Everybody meet Lauren Smyth. She is our in-house interior designer who shops for tile, light fixtures, flooring and everything else you need to have the home of your dreams. She designs amazing homes and is in the process of putting the final touches on our Spring Parade Home (which you can check out in April!).
Lauren has three interior design tips that she wants to share. Check them out!
1. Paint. Don’t underestimate a coat of fresh paint. It is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to transform just about anything. Don’t forget the prep work though!
2. Natural Light. Do you ever look at a picture on pinterest or instagram and think, “Wow, that space is so light and airy!” it’s likely due to the fact that they have all the drapery and blinds wide open. You can never have enough natural light. It’s an instant lift for small spaces especially.
3. Organization. Having a place for everything in your home is a super easy way to freshen up any space. Self-control at Target is difficult but ultimately when you really love the items you own and use a lot the rest pales in comparison.
4. Color scheme. The easiest way to mix patterns, colors, styles, and textures is to stick with one color scheme. Enforce boundaries, not rules.
Rule of thumb, if it doesn’t add meaning, purpose, or value it doesn’t add much.
